Two men were charged Wednesday with attacking and assaulting a police officer and security guards in separate incidents Tuesday.

Charged with first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer and terroristic threatening is Thomas McMellen, 31, who reported no local address. McMellen also is charged with four contempt citations. His bail was set at $30,000. Officerss arrested McMellen Tuesday just after noon in Salt Lake.

Officers arrested Arnold Fitzpatrick, 45, at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Kahala Hotel and Resort, where he allegedly brandished a knife and threatened two security guards.

Fitzpatrick, who also has no local address, is charged with first-degree terroristic threatening and third-degree assault. His bail was set at $20,000.
