A bucket of greasy rags sparked a small fire in the kitchen of a Manoa Marketplace restaurant early Friday morning, a Fire Department spokesman said.

The fire was reported at 2:28 a.m in the kitchen at the Tokoname restaurant at Manoa Marketplace.

Arriving firefighters saw light smoke coming from the back of the two-story strip mall at 2:34 a.m.

Firefighters brought the fire under control by 2:41 a.m. and extinguished it at 3:23 a.m.

The cause of the fire is believed to be spontaneous combustion of the rags in the kitchen.

Damage is estimated at $200.

No injuries were reported.
