Members of the University of Hawaii men's volleyball team, coaches and staff prepare to leave for the semi-final match of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament in California.

The University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team was set to depart Tuesday morning in advance of a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament semifinal match in Irvine, Calif.

The Warriors, who are seeded No. 2, face No. 3 Pepperdine in the Bren Center on Thursday.

“We’re so stoked,” UH middle blocker Taylor Averill said. “We worked so hard. It’s rewarding to be in this position to be fighting for a spot in the NCAA tournament.”

It is widely believed that UH and No. 1 UC Irvine will both advance to next week’s NCAA tournament if they win their MPSF semifinal matches.
