Fire burns homeless camp under Nimitz Highway

It took firefighters 49 minutes to extinguish a smoldering fire at a homeless encampment under a bridge at the H-1 Middle Street onramp near Nimitz Highway early Tuesday morning.
The fire was reported at 1:52 a.m. when smoke was reported coming from under the bridge.
No injuries were reported.
