Police seek help in identifying suspects in 2 burglaries

Hawaii island police are asking the public’s help in identifying suspects in two separate cases who were caught on camera during burglaries in Kailua-Kona and Waikoloa.

In the first incident, two people forcibly entered a convenience store at a gas station at Hualalai Road and Kuakini Highway and removed tobacco products, lighters and sandwiches.

The break-in occurred sometime between 11 p.m. Oct. 5, 2014 and 5:30 a.m. Oct. 6, 2014. The value of the items taken was $855.

On Feb. 2, a surveillance photo recorded the image of a suspect who entered a home on the 68-3500 block of Makuahine Street and took two cellphones valued together at $900.

Police ask anyone with information about the identity of suspects in either case to contact Detective Sandor Finkey at 326-4646, extension 281 or sandor.finkey@hawaiicounty.gov.Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide CrimeStoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
