Cal State Fullerton became the third Big West team to sweep Hawaii this season, finishing off a 5-2 victory in the final game of the year at Les Murakami Stadium.
Kaeo Aliviado doubled in a run and Jarrett Arakawa struck out a season-high five in six innings for the Rainbow Warriors, who finish 12-12 in conference play.
While the rest of the league finishes up next weekend, Hawaii (21-29 overall) will play three nonconference games in Arizona. UH, currently sixth in the league, finished 8-1 against the three teams below it in the standings but just 1-11 against the four teams within three games of first place.
Connor Seabold (3-3) allowed two runs on three hits in six innings to earn the win for the Titans (31-22, 16-5), who lead UC Santa Barbara by one game.
Arakawa (3-4) threw a season-high 98 pitches and gave up four runs on seven hits. Two of the four runs were unearned as Hawaii committed three errors.
Over his five-year career in home games, Arakawa was 13-8 with a 2.58 ERA in 188 2/3 innings with 145 strikeouts.
Aliviado, who homered in Saturday’s loss, just missed another on Sunday, hitting a ball off the top of the wall in the bottom of the third for an RBI double to tie the game at 2-2.
Aliviado reached 30 RBIs in a season for the first time in his four-year career and recorded Hawaii’s final defensive out robbing Taylor Bryant of extra bases with a diving catch deep in center to end the top of the ninth.
Jerrod Bravo hit two doubles and scored a run for Cal State Fullerton, which got the leadoff runner on base in the first six innings.
Aliviado finished 2-for-4, Alan Baldwin hit an RBI single and scored a run and Alex Sawelson singled for the four UH hits.
Hawaii plays a doubleheader next Saturday in Tucson, Ariz., against Abilene Christian and host Arizona before closing with a single game against the Wildcats on Sunday.
