A Maui fire rescue crew Thursday airlifted a 57-year-old Washington woman who was injured at a pool on the Bamboo Forest trail in Kailua, Maui.

Maui Fire Department said the hiker from Bellevue, Wash., lost her footing at about noon Thursday on some slippery rocks at the base of the fifth pool along the trail.

The woman injured her knee and could not walk out, the Fire Department said.

MFD’s Air 1 helicopter airlifted her to an open pasture near Hana Highway.

The woman declined treatment by paramedics, the Fire Department said.

She and her husband left by private vehicle and chose to seek treatment on her own.
