Hawaii County police charged two men and a woman following a West Hawaii crime spree.

On Saturday, police initially responded to a call of a theft of keys from the beach at Honaunau. The owner said he saw his Jeep being driven away by two men and a woman.

Another victim told police that he saw a man take his bag and leave in the Jeep.

The man whose Jeep was stolen went looking for it, and spotted the three suspects at Hookena Beach in a parked Scion.

He called police, who arrested Mei Tanaka, 23, of Honaunau, and Kainoa Lindo, 21, of Honaunau.

The other suspect fled, but police recognized Dylan Alcain, 19, of Captain Cook, as a suspect in other theft cases.

Police recovered the stolen Jeep in bushes off Hookena Beach Road, some stolen items from inside the Scion and a smoking pipe with methamphetamine residue.

On May 17, Tanaka was charged with promoting a dangerous drug and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Lindo was charged with unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.

Police arrested Alcain May 20 near Milolii Village.

Detectives identified Alcain as a suspect in a May 16 residential burglary on Hookena Beach, the May 13 theft of the Scion, a May 17 car break-in at a Kealakekua shopping center, a May 17 theft of a bank bag from a Kealakekua store, the May 18 theft of a county truck from a Kealakekua road, and the theft of a Nissan pickup truck from a Captain Cook home.

Police charged him Thursday with seven counts of theft, four counts of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, two counts of unauthroized entry of a motor vehicle, two counts of burglary and one count each of unauthorized possession of personal information, and drug charges.

His bail was set at $36,250.
