Maui police officer charged with driving under influence of intoxicant

    Rachel Garvin of Haiku, an eight-year veteran of the Maui Police Department, is currently assigned to the receiving desk, police said.

Rachel Garvin, a 33-year-old Maui police officer, was arrested and charged Sunday night with operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant and refusal to submit to breath, blood or urine test, police said.

Garvin of Haiku, an eight-year veteran of the Maui Police Department, is currently assigned to the receiving desk, police said. Her credentials and firearm have been surrendered.

Garvin was released after posting $1,100 bail.
