It also tied the warmest day for July, reached on July 12, 1979, and July 7, 1981.

Also, Kahului, Maui, saw the temperature reach 92 degrees. That broke the old record of 91, set in 1980.

In Hilo Tuesday, the high of 88 degrees tied the record for the date, set in 1980.

Sunday’s temperature of 88 in Hilo also set a record for that date, topping the earlier mark of 87 set in 1980. Kahului’s record of 92  was also tied Sunday.
