A 37-year-old North Kohala man who was holed up in his home Monday night and Tuesday following a domestic disturbance and allegedly shot a woman and police officer is scheduled to appear in Kona District Court on Friday on 22 charges, including first-degree attempted murder.

On Thursday, Macdon D. Thromman of Kapaau was charged with three counts of first-degree attempted murder, one count of attempted second-degree murder, nine counts of first-degree terroristic threatening, one count of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, two firearms offenses and one count each of felony abuse of a family member, kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a minor and reckless endangering. His bail was set at $390,200.

A man was barricaded in his North Kohala home for more than 20 hours after allegedly shooting his girlfriend and a Hawaii County police officer Monday night and surrendered to police Tuesday afternoon.

The officer and the woman who sustained gunshot wounds were taken to North Hawaii Community Hospital for treatment following the 7:48 p.m. Monday incident at a home on the 53-4200 block of Akoni Pule Highway in Halaula, just outside of Hawi. Both were in stable condition Tuesday.

The wounded 43-year-old officer, a 14-year veteran with the Hawaii Police Department, was struck in the arm, police said. The 32-year-old woman was shot in her thigh.
