A cow that wandered onto Farrington Highway was removed safely Monday night.
Honolulu police stopped traffic along Farrington Highway near Ko Olina as they corralled another runaway cow.
Officers closed lanes and rerouted traffic when a cow wandered onto the highway around 9:30 p.m. Monday.
It was the second time in less than a week that a loose cow has disrupted traffic along the highway. On July 16, police shot and killed a pregnant cow that wandered onto the highway and displayed aggressive behavior.
Monday’s bovine escapee proved luckier. Police were able to capture the live cow after about 30 minutes and took it away in a trailer.
Authorities say two ranchers who own animals in the area were notified.
The pregnant cow’s owner, Bud Gibson, told KHON-TV that the second cow was also his. He says someone intentionally cut a hole in the fence meant to keep his cattle away from the road
