HILO >> A 55-year-old Waimea woman accused of embezzling almost $100,000 from the Big Island Pop Warner Football Conference has been sentenced to 10 years of probation.

The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports that Greta “Pua” Correa was sentenced Tuesday to probation and ordered to make restitution of $98,100 to the league.

Prosecutors say Correa stole the money between 2009 and 2012. The former league treasurer forged the signature of then-league president Charles Nahale on league travel fund checks.
