Communities around Schofield Barracks can expect a new round of artillery noise Tuesday and Wednesday with the Marines bringing in their big guns for training.

The Marines plan to conduct the training between about 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. each day; however, training dates and times are subject to change based on environmental and other factors, the Army said.

Intermittent training noise may be heard in surrounding communities. If individuals hear noise, there is no immediate danger, the Army said. Weather, such as overcast conditions, can increase noise and vibrations.

“The military services in Hawaii appreciate the community’s understanding and continued support of local service members and families. While sometimes loud, the sounds of training represent how the military ensures the nation’s service members are ready to accomplish the mission and return home safely,” the Army said.

To report concerns related to noise or training, community members can call the U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii Noise Concern Line at 656-3487 or email usaghi.comrel@gmail.com.
