A 16-year-old Maui girl suffered critical injuries after she was ejected from the rear seat of a pickup truck that overturned in Makawao Monday.
Maui police said the 18-year-old man driving a Toyota Tundra truck was heading north on Makani Road at 10:54 p.m. Monday when he lost control of the truck around a turn near Pau Hana Road and overturned on the roadway, ejecting two of its rear seat passengers.
Paramedics took a 16-year-old girl, who was ejected from the rear seat, to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition. Another 16-year-old girl, also ejected from the rear seat, suffered minor injuries.
The 18-year-old year old driver, and a 17-year-0ld girl in the rear seat were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
An 18-year-old man in the passenger seat was uninjured.
