  • Marshall Carvalho was heading south on Kahului Beach Road on a 2013 Genuine Buddy Scooter when he collided with a 2006 Cadillac

A 54-year-old Wailuku man was killed Monday night in a collision between his motor scooter and a car on Kahului Beach Road.

Maui police said Marshall Carvalho died at Maui Memorial Medical Center, following the 10:23 p.m. accident.

Carvalho was heading south on Kahului Beach Road on a 2013 Genuine Buddy Scooter when he collided with a 2006 Cadillac, driven by a 25 year-old Kahului man, making a left turn on to Kaihee Place, police said.

The Cadillac driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the crash.

Carvalho was wearing a helmet.

It is not known if speed, drugs, and alcohol were factors.

This was Maui County’s 15th fatality for 2015, as compared to 15 at the same time as last year.
