Two Alewa Heights women were arrested early Monday morning for allegedly breaking into a car and assaulting its driver.

Police said the incident occurred at 2:45 a.m. near Honolulu Airport at Ohohia Street and North Nimitz Highway.

Besides trying to assault a 42-year-old woman through an open window of her car, one of the suspects, age 23, allegedly broke the hood ornament of the car. She was arrested on suspicion of third-degree criminal property damaged.

Both women were arrested on suspicion of car theft and released pending investigation.
