Some lanes along Moanalua Road and Kamehameha Highway remain closed Wednesday morning due to water main breaks.

Board of Water Supply crews have been sent to Moanalua Road, where one Koko Head-bound lane was closed around 5 a.m. Police are on the scene to help direct traffic.

A 12-inch water main break at 5 a.m. Wednesday at 98-887 Moanalua Road.in the Aiea area forced the closure of one townbound lane of Moanalua Road between Hekaha Street and Moanalua Loop.

Seven customers will be without water service for most of the day as crews work to repair the water main. A water wagon will be positioned near the break site to provide affected customers with an alternative water source.

Repairs were expected to be completed Wednesday evening, but road repairs were to last into early Thursday.

Meanwhile, work continues on a 24-inch water main break caused by a rail construction crew on Kamehameha Highway at Salt Lake Boulevard that was reported around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. One westbound lane remains open.

The water line belongs to the Navy, but the private contractor will repair the break. The Navy said the only major customer affected was Richardson Pool which already was closed.
