Search resumes for woman apparently swept away by flood

Fifteen firefighters are searching along Nuuanu Stream Thursday from Kuakini Street to Honolulu Harbor looking for a homeless woman who apparently was swept away by flash flooding from the area of Liliuokalani Garden. 

Four homeless person were camping under a bridge near Kuakini Street when the the heavy rains caused Nuuanu Stream to flood  just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, a fire official said. 

Three people got out but they were unable to locate the fourth member of their group. Fire and police conducted an extensive search of the stream from the point of the incident down to the Honolulu Harbor Wednesday night and resumed the search at daybreak. 

Firefighters responded to nine water emergencies between 2:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Wednesday  in the downtown and Kakaako areas. There were no water calls reported overnight.
