Baby girl delivered in back of Uber car by Lincoln Tunnel

NEW YORK >> Officials say a baby girl was successfully delivered in the backseat of an Uber car parked by the mouth of the Lincoln Tunnel.

The New York Daily News reports the birthing process began around 5:15 p.m. Monday as the baby’s 32-year-old mother was in the backseat of the ride-hailing company’s car.

The mother’s driver flagged down a Port Authority police officer after stopping the car near West 40th Street and Dyer Avenue.

Port Authority officers and New York Fire Department emergency medical technicians delivered the healthy baby in just minutes.

Officials say the baby’s head was already crowning as first responders arrived on scene.

The mother, who had been traveling to the hospital from Hoboken, New Jersey, was transported along with her new daughter to Mt. Sinai Roosevelt Hospital.
