Two families lost their Manoa home in a two-alarm fire Thursday morning.
Smoke and flames were coming from the ground-floor unit when firefighters arrived at the two-story building at 3581 Kumu Place.
Nine fire companies with 35 firefighters responded to the 7:51 a.m. blaze. About a third of the building was on fire when firefighters arrived.
Firefighters used water and foam to control the blaze at 8:21 a.m.
Four people were at home and escaped without injury.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. A fire damage estimate was not immediately available.
The American Red Cross is helping the families displaced by the fire.
