Firefighters put out a fire in the basement of the Judd Building at 851 Fort Street Mall and had to ventilate smoke from the building Friday night.

Crews responded to the two-alarm fire at around 8:51 p.m. to find the five-story building emitting smoke from the ground floor lobby. No one was present at the time according to officials.

The fire was located and contained to the basement of the building and was extinguished at 9:42 p.m.

Cause of the fire is under investigation and a damage estimate is unavailable at this time.
