Police arrested a 65-year-old man who allegedly cut a 48-year-old man who tried to detain him while trying to recover stolen property in the Keeaumoku Street area Sunday afternoon.

Police said the suspect tried to extort money from a 48-year-old woman for the return of stolen property at about 1:35 p.m. Sunday. The woman refused to pay and waited for police to arrive.

The suspect tried to flee and the 48-year-old man tried to detain him and was cut with a “dangerous instrument,” police said.

Officers arrested the suspect at 1:55 p.m. on suspicion of robbery.
