Firefighters rescued a 22-year-old woman who was injured Thursday afternoon while walking her dog on the Moanalua Valley Trail.

The woman was a quarter-mile into the hike on a flat area when she tripped and fell and suffered an injured ankle, fire Capt. David Jenkins said.

Jenkins said two hikers helped the woman before the Fire Department’s arrival.

The Fire Department received a call at 3:02 p.m., and had rescue personnel at the patient’s side at 3:25 p.m.

Firefighters treated, stabilized and prepared her for transport by helicopter to Moanalua Valley park where she was transferred to the care of Emergency Medical Services.

Emergency Medical Services paramedics assessed, treated and transported her by ambulance in stable condition to a hospital.
