A 34-year-old man was charged Friday with numerous offenses in connection with the gunpoint robbery of a soccer mom at Kapiolani Park.

Phillip Osuna, of no local address, was charged with first-degree robbery, kidnapping, second-degree identity theft, second-degree attempted theft, and other personal information and credit card offenses.

His bail was set at $200,000. Police would not say Saturday if he was still in custody.

Osuna was arrested Thursday at the Pacific Marina Inn near the Honolulu Airport after numerous tips to the CrimeStoppers Honolulu program, which released surveillance photos of a man seen using a stolen credit card in Haleiwa.

Police said the gunpoint robbery occurred about 5:20 p.m. Monday as a 46-year-old woman was waiting in her car while her daughter practiced at Kapiolani Park.

Osuna allegedly entered the woman’s vehicle from the passenger side, showed her a handgun and demanded her belongings.

The man forced the woman to drive him around Kapiolani Park and eventually ordered her to stop the car before fleeing with her jewelry, purse and cellphone, a Hawaii Youth Soccer Association representative said.
