DEWITT, N.Y. » Police have identified the body of a burned corpse found in woods on a central New York college campus on homecoming weekend.

DeWitt Town Police Capt. John Anton says the victim was a woman in her 50s. He says she was not a student or an official with Le Moyne College and the public is in no danger. He also says police are no longer looking for a suspect.

The body — discovered by joggers around 11:30 a.m. Sunday — was taken to the town’s medical examiner for an autopsy. Her identity has not yet been released. Police gave no other details.

The Jesuit school is just outside the Syracuse city line and has about 2,500 undergraduates.

School officials didn’t immediately returned calls seeking comment.
