The Hawaii soccer team continued to struggle in Big West play, falling 3-0 to visiting UC Santa Barbara in the conference opener tonight at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

The Rainbow Wahine are 0-4 in Big West openers since joining the conference in 2012.

UH (3-7-1, 0-1 Big West) played the Gauchos (8-3-1, 1-0) scoreless for 70-plus minutes. But UCSB’s Amanda Ball connected on a penalty kick in the 72nd minute and Jessica Parque and Mallory Hromatko added scores in the 80th and 87th frames.

Midfielder Storm Kenui led UH with five shots, including two on goal.

UH hosts Cal Poly (0-1 Big West) on Sunday at 5 p.m.
