A 31-year-old Kakaako man is in custody after he kissed and fondled a woman who refused his advances on a city bus in Kalihi, police said.

Jesuit Hilario, also known as Fanson Otto, was indicted on a charge of kidnapping Thursday in connection with the incident. He was being held at Oahu Community Correctional Center in lieu of $75,000 bail.

According to a police affidavit, the incident began about 1:30 a.m. Sept. 19 when Hilario tried to talk to the victim on a city bus but was rebuffed.

When the woman got off at a stop near Mokauea Street and Dillingham Boulevard, Hilario followed her and grabbed her by the arms and then pushed her into a fence so she couldn’t escape, the affidavit said.

He began to kiss her all over her face and neck, then fondled her and tried to remove her clothing, while saying something about having sex together, the affidavit said.

The woman struggled with Hilario during the encounter and finally broke free and ran away.

Hilario fled and was not arrested at the time.

About 1:15 a.m. Sunday, the victim called police after noticing Hilario at Ala Moana Center.

When the victim pointed out Hilario to an officer, Hilario ran in the other direction to get away, but was eventually detained.
