Honolulu recovered an 86-year-old man’s body today from Kaneohe Bay after the man went missing.

Honolulu fire Capt. David Jenkins said firefighters received a call about 7:50 a.m. after the man went missing while trying to recover a boat that had broken anchor.

Jenkins said the victim was camping at Kapapa Island with another man and both had gone into the water to try to retrieve the boat. The other man was able to get to the boat and called for help for the victim who ran into trouble.

Firefighters located the man in the water, unconscious and without a pulse, about 9:30 a.m. Firefighters transferred the man to paramedics and he was pronounced dead shortly after.
