Ocean Safety personnel reported an influx of box jellyfish in Waikiki today.

Lifeguards counted about 150 box jellyfish on Waikiki Beach, and 90 stings, said Shayne Enright, spokeswoman for the city Emergency Services Department.

Lifeguards posted warning signs and verbally warned people throughout the day.

In contrast, at Ala Moana Beach, fewer than a dozen jellyfish were found, and a couple of stings were reported.
