Ocean Safety personnel rescued a 17-year-old boy who found himself in trouble today after jumping off a cliff at Spitting Caves in Portlock.

The boy, who needed help after swallowing water, was brought to the Maunalua boat ramp where he was treated by paramedics. He was then transported to a hospital in stable condition.

A 19-year-old man who was with the boy was able to make it back up the rocks on his own.

Ocean Safety officials are reminding the public not to jump off the cliff as ocean currents in the area are very strong and it is difficult to get out.
