City lifeguards rescued a 16-year-old boy who jumped off of the cliff at Spitting Caves in Portlock but could not get back to shore on his own about 4 p.m. today.

He didn’t require transport to a hospital by Emergency Medical Services.

Ocean Safety officials advise strongly against jumping off of this cliff. The currents can be extremely strong and change quickly.
