The top 25 restaurants in the U.S. include two on Maui: Mama’s Fish House and Lahaina Grill.
On the annual TripAdvisor.com list of top 25 Travelers’ Choice Restaurants, Mama’s Fish House in Paia, Maui ranks at No. 14; and Lahaina Grill is at No. 15.
The two Maui restaurants bested the vaunted French Laundry in Yountville, Calif., as well as other top-rated restaurants established by world-renowned chefs.
The top two U.S. restaurants on the world list are Bouley in New York City at No. 15, followed closely at No. 16 by Alinea, in Chicago.
The U.S. list is topped by those two restaurants, followed by third-ranked Le Bernardin in New York City.
The awards are based on millions of online reviews and were determined using an algorithm that accounted for the quantity and quality of reviews gathered over a 12-month period, according to a news release.
“As a special bonus, we have asked the chefs of these top-rated restaurants to share recipes with our community so that if you can’t dine at the restaurant anytime soon, you can travel with your taste buds and make some of their dishes at home,” said Barbara Messing, TripAdvisor chief marketing officer, in a statement.
