The Hawaii volleyball team didn’t play a match last week but the Rainbow Wahine continued to improve in both the Ratings Percentage Index and the AVCA Coaches Top 25 released today.

Hawaii (18-1, 8-0 Big West) moved up three spots to No. 23 in the RPI, the computer-based rating system used by the NCAA selection committee to help seed the postseason tournament and award hosting duties to 16 teams for the first and second rounds. Moving into the top spot is Florida, which Hawaii beat in five sets on Sept. 11.

In the Top 25, the Rainbow Wahine moved up two spots to No. 6. Remaining a unanimous No. 1 is USC (22-0) with Texas also staying put at No. 2.

Penn State (19-2) moved up two places to No. 3 followed by Minnesota (17-3) which jumped from ninth to third. Washington (18-2) dropped a spot to No. 4 with Stanford (13-5) moving up four places from 11th to No. 7.

UCLA (17-3), the only team to beat Hawaii this season, is at No. 8 followed by Nebraska (16-4), which fell six spots to No. 9 after two losses last week. Previously undefeated Kansas (19-1) dropped three places to No. 10.

Hawaii remains the only Big West team in the Top 25. Long Beach State (17-5, 7-2) received 22 points, putting the 49ers at 30th.
