No. 16 Arizona State runs away from Hawaii in women’s basketball

Katie Hempen and Quinn Dornstauder each scored 12 points as No. 16 Arizona State rolled past Hawaii 75-49 in a Waikiki Beach Marriott Shootout women’s basketball game Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Sabrina Haines added 11 points for the Sun Devils (2-2), who outscored the Rainbow Wahine 25-9 in the second period to take control of the game.

Destiny King finished with a game-high 16 points for Hawaii (4-2) and Megan Huff added 11. The Wahine face No. 2 South Carolina in Sunday’s 5 p.m. tournament finale.

The Gamecocks (6-0) got 26 points from Aja Wilson to remain undefeated. South Carolina downed Cal State Bakersfield 90-71 in Saturday’s first game.
