A hazy, humid morning is expected today with a few scattered showers, but heavier rains, perhaps even thunderstorms could arrive on Oahu and Kauai County today into Saturday, National Weather Service forecasters say
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Oahu, Kauai and Niihau from this afternoon through Saturday afternoon. Forecasters say the islands can expect heavy showers as a cold front moves over the western part of the state.
As the cold front moves in from the west, Kauai may see heavy rain and thunderstorms starting this afternoon.
The heavy rains should reach Oahu late today or, more likely, sometime on Saturday.
The rainy weather is likely to continue through Sunday as moisture from the front lingers over Oahu and Kauai County until Monday, when the northeast trade winds return.
A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Residents are advised to monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take action if a flash flood warning is issued.
