Man in serious condition after garbage truck accident in Salt Lake

Paramedics took a 50-year-old man to the hospital in serious condition after his right arm was pierced by the lift of a private garbage truck in Salt Lake.

Emergency Medical Services said the accident occurred at 7:39 a.m. in the 3100 block of Ala Ilima Street.

Actually, I'm surprised there aren't more garbage truck accidents - the garbage trucks really barrel down the streets in my Mililani neighborhood. The streets are narrow and you never know when a child could wander onto the street. People, especially commercial big trucks, need to drive cautiously in residential areas.
