Hawaii County police arrest grandmother, father of missing toddler

Hawaii County police arrested Tuesday afternoon the 53-year-old grandmother and 25-year-old father of a missing 2-year-old Lanai boy in what authorities describe as a custodial interference case.

Police arrested Katherine Ruth Hunter and Noah Sanchez on suspicion of custodial interference.

Police said the boy has also been found, unharmed, and was reunited with his mother Tuesday evening.

Police said Hunter took her grandson, Kingszon Sanchez, from his home on Lanai to Hawaii island on March 5 for what was to have been a five-day visit. The child’s 22-year-old mother, who is his legal custodian, gave Hunter permission, police said.

Hunter had refused to return the child to his mother and was wanted for questioning in a custodial interference investigation, police said earlier.

On March 30, the child’s mother saw the boy, Hunter and Noah Sanchez — the boy’s father and Hunter’s son — at a Pahoa restaurant, but they drove away in a blue sedan before she could call police, police said. That was the last time they were known to have been seen, prior to their arrest, police said.

Police put out a call to the public for help in finding Hunter and Noah Sanchez Tuesday.

good. I dont know these people but if the grandmother thinks the mother is unfit, she needs to file for legal custody. If the mother wants, at this point, she should file for no visitation by the dad or the grandmother.

Not my beef, so will stay out of this dispute, until may be there are further details of the family split-up. Poor kid being used as pawn in a dispute between husband and wife.
