Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying human remains, believed to be that of man, that were recovered near the seaplane ramp on Ford Island on October 2005.

The partially clothed remains were analyzed and found to be a Caucasian male with a predicted age of 45 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet. The male had an injured knee and may have walked with a limp. Evidence showed that the man died on land before he was immersed in water several days later.

The partially clothed, badly decomposing body was spotted by a Navy contractor while he was working on Ford Island.

A Navy diver pulled the body from the water on Oct. 25, 2005.

The body was taken to Ford Island by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and then turned over to the city medical examiner’s office.

The age, race and gender of the body was not known at the time.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300, or *CRIME on your cellular phone. The public may now send anonymous text and web tips. Text “CS808” plus your message to 274637 or CRIMES.

Someone missing from someone's life is a good place to start. This will be a long exhaustive investigation, noteworthy to document in a show such as Forensic Files, if Peter Thomas would still be with us.
