LAST UPDATED: 11:45 a.m. HST, May 06, 2013

Four men, including a 16-year-old juvenile male, were arrested after two homeless men reported being attacked at a beach in Makena on Sunday.

One of the victims, who told Maui police he is from Sammamish, Wa., was playing his guitar at 3:30 p.m. with friends at Little Beach at Makena when he and another homeless man from Nebraska were attacked and threatened with a knife by one of the suspects.

The homeless man from Washington state was taken to Maui Memorial Hospital in stable condition with a broken jaw, loss of several molars and teeth, along with multiple bruising and swelling of his face and head. He was hit with his guitar by his attackers, police said.

The Nebraska man was not seriously injured and refused medical treatment.

Four men — ages 16, 18, 20 and 27 — are suspected in taking part in the attack. Charges are pending.

Geez, put those animals away for a long time, then break all their jaws before they get released.

Animals is an appropriate word bumba. When you're down and out and homeless, and someone literally kicks you when you're down, that is even lower than animal! Downright evil.

Instead of free one-way tickets to Maui, these homeless guys should have gotten their free tickets to Honolulu. They could have joined the other (de) Occupy homeless, now on the Blaisdell Concert Hall lawn, and where it is safe.

You can lead a sociopath to education, but you can't make him learn empathy. Or maybe they're just regular guys raised in bizarre families or subcultures. It goes on and on, and it seems there's nothing we can do about it.

Right! And its frustrating to see these dirtbaggers mooching off all of us who work, not to condone what the kids did, but a lot of our "campers" are lolos from the mainland.

"Mainland"? That's the continent. Hawai'i IS THE main land for people here. However, unfortunately, Hawai'i is now the "main" land to send the continent's homeless, and they are coming, with free one-way tickets.
