Prosecutors charged a 24-year-old Kalihi-Palama man Monday night for allegedly stabbing and killing a homeless man man on Sunday.

Herwin Magbulos was charged with second-degree murder after police said he allegedly stabbed a 59-year-old man multiple times during an argument at an encampment of homeless people near Kilihau and Mapunapuna streets. The incident happened at about 6:10 a.m. Sunday.

His bail was set $150,000. The suspect was to make his first appearance in District Court this morning.

The suspect, who fled, was found at a grocery store on Gulick Avenue at about 1:30 p.m. A witness to the earlier incident identified Magbulos.

The victim was taken in extremely critical condition to the hospital, where he later died.

The medical examiner’s office is withholding the identification of the victim.

A witness who saw the fight said the argument was about a drug deal.

A drug deal. What a surprise. At least the stone hit two birds; one's dead, the other will soon be off to OCCC.
