Man allegedly threatens couple in Ewa Beach after they bump him

By Star-Advertiser staff

LAST UPDATED: 09:03 a.m. HST, Jun 17, 2013

A man and woman walking at the Ewa Beach Shopping Center say they were harassed by a man whom they accidentally bumped Sunday afternoon.

The couple — a man and a woman, both 33 — said they were threatened after accidentally bumping the 39-year-old suspect, who responded by allegedly threatening them.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of harassment and first-degree terroristic threatening.

Other people have just as much rights out in public to walk where ever they want. he has every right to mouth off what he wants. Mouthing off is his right, your right is not to listen. If you don't want to listen, don't and don't call the cops too. Threats are what Law schools brainwash to mean a Crime. Nothing happens in a threat itself, a Crime is committed if and when it is carried out. Before is just thoughts, words and gestures, no one gets hurt with those, maybe one's feelings, not a Crime. pity.

What? You're making way to many assumtions. Maybe the suspect shouldn't have "accidentally" bumped into the couple then none of this would have happened.

Article states that they accidentally bumped him. He obviously didn't like it so voiced his displeasure. Good so far? And, your comment to me is HE bumped into to them. Anyway, if the couple just walked away, case closed. If they responded to his displeasure, then it escalates. And further, let us agree not to respond to each other forever. I cannot stand you and your self-righteous attitude. Agree?

You're just as bad as kiragirl. You're making way too many assumptions it's not even funny. So if they were visitors they'd cry "assault" but if they were local they wouldn't? What kind of logic is that? Everyone needs to watch where they're going.

Maybe some locals that you know would cry assault. Not the ones I know. I'm a pretty big guy. But if I bumped anybody by accident I would immediately say sorry, excuse me. That's how I was raised. And if anyone bumped me by accident, I would not get angry. I would expect common courtesy and a 'sorry' or 'excuse me' though. This story did not say what the couple said after bumping the guy.

Agree everyone has a right to walk in public and mouth off, but when mouthing off turns to threats and he gets within a few feet of my personal space after I attempt to walk away, I'd spray him. My logic being that he threatened me and when he came within a few feet of me, the threat became real enough for me to defend myself. After all once someone is within a few feet it takes less than a second for them to physically assault you. A jury might disagree with me but I'd take my chances with them rather than take a chance of being assaulted.

First off this isn't me assaulting someone. This is self-defence. Secondly, there are no rules in a street fight. If you want a fair fight join boxing or MMA. Street fighting involves kicking the groin, eye-gouging, biting, 3 on 1 fights, knives, pepper spray, etc. If someone threatens me you can guarantee I won't fight fair. I already have a pair, thanks for your concern.
