Woman stops suspected thief on Waikiki beach

A private citizen is responsible for stopping a suspected thief after reporting that she saw the suspect take items from a beach in Waikiki on Thursday.

Police said the 25-year-old woman confronted the 51-year-old suspect around 6 p.m. after seeing him take items from the beach. The suspect allegedly threatened the witness, who called police.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery.
