Two days after it ruptured, repair crews from the Board of Water supply have completed repairs to the 24-inch water main and road in Kahala.

Kahala Avenue from Kealaolu Avenue to the The Kahala Hotel & Resort was reopened at 3:15 a.m. this morning, according to a BWS spokesperson. Water service was restored at 2:30 p.m. Friday. Five customers had been without water service.

The break to the water main, which was originally installed in 1952, was reported Thursday morning at 5:35 a.m.

sad but Ben was right: Buod your sewers, water, electrical grip and roads before overpaying for an overpriced, out of date rail

How true. Instead it is build, build, build, raising height limits, turning buildings so they block existing views, and more condos to tax our neglected water mains, sewers and roads. Where are the priorities?

After Rail is operational there will be a concerted effort to prop up Rail and things like road repair and the water main breaks that disrupt auto transfportation will be dismissed by the politicians with "well just ride Rail and the Bus and you won't have to worry about it." Rail will become the overriding excuse to cut back on infrastructure surface transportation and related infrastructure in order to prop up Rail and justify their original assertions and ongoing taxes. Just wait and see.
