An SUV driven by an on-duty police officer was struck by a motorcycle Sunday morning in Waialua.

Police said the accident occurred at 7:05 a.m. on Kaukonahua Road when the police officer was making a left turn into Kaamooloa Road.

A 29-year-old Kapolei man driving a 2011 motorcycle hit the front-left corner of the police officer’s vehicle and a rock wall. The motorcycle driver was taken to Queen’s Medical Center in serious condition.

Police said speed and alcohol were not factors in the traffic accident.
