Pedestrian killed in Hilo crash ID'd

Hawaii County police have identified the 61-year old woman died who early Wednesday after being struck by a car as Roslyn Rushing of Hilo.

The victim was crossing Kamehameha Avenue just south of Kalakaua Street at 8:59 p.m. Tuesday when she was struck by a 1998 Honda four-door sedan driven by a 35-year-old Hilo woman. 

The woman was not in a marked crosswalk, police said. The victim was taken to Hilo Medical Center where she died at 3:55 a.m. Wednesday. 

This was the 19th traffic fatality on the Big Island this year, compared with 14 at this time last year.

When talking about the victim the writer of the article uses the term "the victim" and the term "the woman" why not use one term when referring to the person who was killed????
