LAS VEGAS » A sign company says one of its workers is in critical condition at a Las Vegas hospital after surviving a 130-foot fall at the MGM Grand casino marquee.

Officials with Young Electric Sign Company identified the victim in the Wednesday morning fall as Charles Schueler, who has worked with the company for six years.

Authorities say the accident happened a little before 10 a.m. while Schueler was working to upgrade the large casino sign. The sign company says his fall was broken in part by trees and landscaping.

Schueler was taken to University Medical Center, and company officials say his family was by his side Wednesday.

Police say the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be responsible for investigating the incident.

Wow, that's like falling from a thirteen story building. The worker was so lucky to fall into landscaping that broke the fall. Hope he survives and is able to articulate exactly what went wrong for the benefit of others. This also is a case for making marquee signs digital and remotely altered.

The guy falls 130 feet and they take him to the hospital and not the morgue? He should be in a casino betting every cent he has.

The guy was so lucky to have his fall broken. Had it not been for the trees, etc., he would be dead.
