Waianae man allegedly threatens to cut wife's throat

By Star-Advertiser staff

LAST UPDATED: 08:27 a.m. HST, Aug 08, 2013

A 37-year-old Waianae man faces several criminal charges after he allegedly threatened to cut his wife’s throat during an argument and ended up trying to strangle her, police said.

The argument occurred July 27 at the couple’s Farrington Highway home near Pokai Bay. The incident escalated when the suspect allegedly grabbed a knife and made slashing motions in front of his wife’s face, threatening to cut her throat. The suspect then threw the knife to the floor, police said, and grabbed the 46-year-old woman’s throat with both hands and started to choke her.

He was arrested Wednesday on two counts of abuse of a household member and first-degree terroristic threatening.

Sensibilities went out the door, while the remnants of our primitive brain runs amok during the heat of an argument. Sad, and it could happen to best of us. Come December 28, will be happily married to the same lady for 62 years.

Funny, for every one of these type crimes, there are 5-6 in town. But Waianae offers up mostly silly arguments. Town has the real serious crime. Cannot dispute facts. Scary.

Can Star-Advertiser stop with the "Waianae Man" and "___(place) Woman" titles? We don't know when people are visitors or recently relocated people who happen to be in the community, as perpetrator or victim - it unfairly promotes negative images of the PLACE and all people who happen to reside there in ways that aren't helpful. When you run stories about tourists, you don't write "Pasadena tourist behaves badly" or "Tokyo man charged with..." Journalistic standards for consistency, pls?
