A 26-year-old homeless man has been charged with breaking into a Waikiki apartment and assaulting a male occupant.

Police said Anthony Shermeta was arrested Friday after he allegedly kicked out the window of a Waikiki apartment at 1:17 a.m. near Kalaimoku Street and allegedly attacked a 29-year-old man in his living room.

The victim was not seriously injured, and said he knew the man who broke into his apartment.

Shermeta was charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree assault Saturday. His bail was set at $11,000.

Bring back the HPD Metro Squad and get rid of these bums. Stop feeling sorry for these drug addict crazies already. So many of them are not even from Hawaii. Many are ex-cons from the mainland and many of them have criminal records. These are not the homeless we used to see around town 15 years ago. This is a total different breed.
