The medical examiner’s office has identified the 28-year-old Marine who died Sunday after crashing his motorcycle into a metal guard rail on the Likelike Highway as David Kemp.

Police said speed was a factor in the 4:10 a.m. crash in the Kaneohe-bound lanes, about 240 feet before the Wilson Tunnel.

The Medical Examiner’s office said it is still awaiting the results of toxicology tests to determine whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Emergency Medical Services.

Police said this was Oahu’s 40th traffic fatality this year, compared with 43 at this time in 2012.

Got what he deserved. I have no tolerance for this type of behavior. Now the roads are a little safer because there's one less piece of (you know what) out there to threaten me or my loved ones. Good riddance, no one will miss you.

Darwinism at work. I'm glad he just killed himself and not anyone else.

A lot of people think motorcyclists will only kill themselves, but that's not true. Remember the cyclist on Nimitz Hwy. that hit a car so hard it flipped the car over and killed the car's driver (as well as the motorcyclist)? It's all well and good when they kill themselves, but they are endangering innocent people too. In this case, it's much better that he killed himself than innocent people. That goes for all drivers, not just motorcyclists.

Some of these comments disgust me. He was a marine who served two tours in Afganistan. He just got out and planned to return home to his 5 year old boy. He didn't deserve to die. Its very sad that you can be so cruel and cowardly hiding behind your computer screens.
